McKinney Islamic Association (MIA) – Nikah Service Policy

 

I. Overview

The McKinney Islamic Association (MIA) offers Nikah services to Muslims wishing to marry. All Nikah ceremonies are officiated by Shaykh Omar Hussain or by a scholar authorized by the masjid. Families have the option to invite an approved external scholar to officiate their marriage ceremony at MIA. This policy delineates the terms and conditions of hosting a Nikah service at the MIA.

 

II. Policy

To maintain the sanctity of the masjid and ensure a harmonious environment for regular attendees, the following policies have been established for hosting a Nikah service:

General Compliance:

 

    • All rules and policies outlined in this document must be strictly adhered to.
    • Non-compliance can result in termination of the ceremony.
  • Refreshments: Only pre-packed sweets may be distributed to guests from the lobby area.
    • No breakfast, lunch, or dinner may be served on the premises.
  • Dress Code: All attendees and participants, regardless of religious affiliation, must observe a modest dress code.
      • Individuals not adhering to the dress code will be asked to leave. No exceptions.
      • Violations include transparent or see-through clothing and skirts.
  • Entertainment Restrictions: The use of music or Nasheed is strictly prohibited during the ceremony.
  • Seating Arrangement: Men and women must be seated separately throughout the event.
  • Timing: The start and end times of the Nikah ceremony will be strictly enforced.
  • The main hall will be reserved for the Nikah ceremony for a duration of 60 minutes, commencing from the reservation start time.
  • Decor and Partitions: Only partitions supplied by MIA can be utilized during the ceremony.Cultural or banquet hall practices such as flower curtains, formal entrances, and congregation of men and women at entrances or lobby areas are strictly prohibited.
  • Masjid area that was used for the ceremony must cleaned and chairs (if used ) must be stowed in the proper racks.
  • Service Discretion: MIA retains the right to refuse service for any reason, even without explicit justification.

1. Submission of Nikah Request: Interested parties should submit their Nikah request online at the provided link: Nikah Service

2. Document Upload: Ensure all necessary documents, as outlined in the policy section above, are attached or uploaded with the online form.

3. Acknowledgment Email: Upon successful submission, the system will automatically generate an acknowledgment email. It’s imperative to retain this email for future reference.

4. Communication from MIA Admin: Post-submission, the MIA administration will reach out to the designated point of contact via either email or phone. This is to facilitate further discussions on the ceremony details and requirements.

5. Preliminary Meeting: MIA admin will schedule a meeting with the family or responsible individuals to discuss the program flow, understand any specific needs, and convey MIA’s requirements and expectations for the Nikah ceremony.

6. Approval Notification: After thorough review and the meeting, MIA will communicate the decision to the family. The family will be informed whether their Nikah request has been approved or declined.
